²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ State University will soon welcome students to campus for the 2021 fall semester, which begins Aug. 16. The new academic year will kick off with residential students moving into on-campus housing Aug. 12-14, followed by First-Year Convocation for incoming students and the annual celebratory First Day of School Cake.
Schedule of Activities
Aug. 12-14 – , ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ Campus
9 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily – Austin Residence Complex, ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ Place, University Village and University Village Suites
Aug. 13-14 – , Marietta Campus
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily – Hornet Village, Howell Hall, University Columns, University Commons and University Courtyard
*Howell Hall, the oldest residence hall on either campus, underwent a major renovation
and will be reopening this fall.
Aug. 15 – First-Year Convocation
This annual celebration welcomes first-year students to Owl Nation and includes a
festival-style pre-event at the Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities
Center followed by a program at the Convocation Center with remarks from ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ leaders,
students and alumni.
4:30 - 7 p.m. – Student party and pep rally with music, ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ cheerleaders, marching band, and Scrappy the Owl – Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center
7 p.m. – Guest speakers, teaching of the fight song and alma mater, and a gift for each student – Convocation Center
Aug. 16 – First Day of School Cake
This annual ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ tradition celebrates the start of fall semester classes with cake
and cupcakes.
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. – Convocation Center, ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ Campus
2 - 3:30 p.m. – Wilson Student Center, Marietta Campus

NOTE: The location for First-Year Convocation has been changed from Fifth Third Bank Stadium to the Convocation Center due to Sunday's weather forecast. Per University guidelines, vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals are encouraged to wear a face covering while inside campus facilities.
