Andrew Bramlett is well beyond his years, recalling history like a scholar who has long been in the field, longer than his lifetime. Some might say he’s prodigious. At 19 years old, the first-year history student at Ƶ State University sits on the Ƶ Historic Preservation Commission. A decade ago, though, he was appointed vice president of the Ƶ Historical Society and served in this role until the group disbanded in 2023.

Phone app boosts Ƶ State's Takeout Club waste reduction initiative

A program where takeout food containers at Ƶ State University dining halls are returned, washed, and reused has seen its effectiveness skyrocket through use of a phone app. Ƶ’s Takeout Club program has been in existence for years, but when dining services managers pivoted to an app called Fill it Forward, the return rate for meal containers increased significantly. The system lets dining managers keep accurate track of the inventory of containers in circulation, as well as letting them and Takeout Club members know how much waste is being diverted from garbage dumps – more than a half ton so far.

Ƶ State's economic impact rises to nearly $2.15 billion

Ƶ State University’s economic impact in metro Atlanta increased to nearly $2.15 billion in fiscal year 2023, according to a University System of Georgia (USG) report released Wednesday. Ƶ State’s FY 2023 economic impact in the 29-county Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area marked a 5.6% increase from $2.03 billion the previous year. The total impact of all 26 USG institutions on their communities was $21.9 billion in fiscal year 2023, up 9% from $20.1 billion in FY 2022.

Ƶ State Academic Learning Center named for longtime family benefactors

Ƶ State University’s Academic Learning Center, home to student honors and research facilities, now bears the name of the University’s largest family benefactors. In front of an audience of Ƶ deans, faculty and scholarship recipients who have benefited from the gifts of Audrey Morgan and her late sister Bobbie Bailey, Ƶ leaders unveiled on Tuesday the newly named Morgan and Bailey Academic Learning Center. Philanthropic support from Morgan, Bailey and the Bobbie Bailey Foundation totals more than $17 million, making the family the largest family donors in Ƶ history.
