Since 2017, AOF has provided more than $1 million in support of ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµâ€™s Campus Awareness, Resource & Empowerment (CARE) Services and the ASCEND program, profoundly impacting college students facing basic needs insecurities and those who experienced homelessness or foster care in high school.

Two majors, two part-time jobs, two club vice-presidencies—for Micah Holston, life at ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ State is doubly fulfilling. Holston is pursuing bachelor’s degrees in physics and political science. He is a substitute teacher in Cherokee County schools and conducts research part time for the Air Force Research Laboratory in New Mexico. He is also the vice president of the ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ Nuclear Society and the ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ chapter of the North American Young Generation for Nuclear.

From a young age, Cindy Bishop-Aguilar was captivated by the night sky, spending hours with her grandfather and watching the stars. It was this early fascination with space that would ultimately lead her to ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ State University, where she pursued an engineering degree. At ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµâ€™s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, she charted her course in mechanical engineering with a minor in aerospace engineering, driven by her desire to develop a well-rounded skill set and pursue a career in space exploration.

Eight years ago, while working as a software engineer for a South Korean cybersecurity company, InChan Hwang watched a historic game of Go, a strategic board game for two players that originated in ancient China, between a professional player and a computer using artificial intelligence (AI). He realized the profound potential of AI following its victory. Since completing his Ph.D. in Data Science and Analytics from ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ State University’s College of Computer Science and Engineering, Hwang has started a new role as an assistant professor of cybersecurity at Montreat College in North Carolina.
